Christine Daugherty Maldonado - Counselor
Christine Daugherty Maldonado

Hello, my name is Christine Daugherty Maldonado and I have the privilege of being the counselor at Herrera Elementary. I was born and raised in El Paso. In 2006 I graduated from UTEP with a B.A. in psychology. After obtaining my teaching certification, I enjoyed teaching 3rd and 4th grade. In 2013 I graduated from Sul Ross State University with a Master of Education in Counseling degree. I began counseling at Herrera Elementary in 2014. In addition to being a school counselor, I am working towards obtaining my LPC license to become a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas.

At Herrera Elementary our core values are respect, responsibility, and safety. I provide guidance lessons and individual counseling throughout the year related to these values. I also provide lessons and counseling sessions
related to themes such as
self-esteem, anti-bullying, caring and kindness, goal setting, conflict resolution, and making positive choices. My primary goal at Herrera is to assist our students and teachers in creating a safe and healthy school environment.
